Captain's Log: Day 1

Received our orders from Admiral Potemus Marolus at Fort Pelagius. We are to retrieve some 'special' cargo from a contact who will be waiting for us off the northern coast of Vvardenfell. Once we have the cargo, our directions are to deliver it to Old Ebonheart where Imperial battlemages will be waiting to transfer whatever it is to the Imperial University for study.

The Admiral used some choice words to make it abundantly clear to me that both speed and secrecy are paramount for this mission. We've also been warned that we should expect interference from the Tribunal Temple and must take precautions to avoid their presence.

Captain's Log: Day 4

We landed at the appointed place and I went ashore with First Mate S'Drassa to meet with our contact, an odd-looking Dunmer mage. At first, I was sure this would be some kind of ambush, but he knew the codes we had been given. The mer then led us into a small cove where we took possession of a large crate, covered in odd symbols and glyphs.

As the mage was sealing the crate, I caught a glimpse inside of what could only have been a creature of blight. Writing this, I still shudder to recall its monstrous, ashen, and only vaguely humanoid form. I confronted our contact, but he assured me we were in no danger. He claimed that his magic would keep the 'ash ghoul' -- his words -- unconscious for our entire journey. Even so, I can't shake an uneasy feeling about this mission. I've ordered S'Drassa to stow the crate holding the creature in the bottom of our hold and to set sail immediately. Better to keep the rest of the crew in the dark for now.

Captain's Log: Day 5

We've taken on supplies at Firewatch and are on our way to Old Ebonheart. So far only S'Drassa and myself know our true mission. I've had to bar anyone else from entering the bottom of the hold. Thankfully, the creature still appears to be unconscious. S'Drassa has volunteered to watch over the crate and I'm happy to let him. I'd like to be as far away from that thing as possible.

Captain's Log: Day 6

Some of the crew have started to complain of odd, haunting dreams. I caught Gaius staring out over the inner sea, mumbling something about stars weeping. I confronted him, but he said he must have just dozed off. More worrying is that S'Drassa now refuses to leave the hold for any reason. I'm worried about the crate too, but him starving himself down there won't help anything. The sooner we reach Old Ebonheart, the better.

Captain's Log: Day 7

Bad luck. The winds have turned against us, and the crew's condition has not stopped deteriorating. Everyone is complaining of nightmares and visions. Half of them have stopped carrying out their duties and just sit and stare at the water. Even worse, we cannot make port at Darvonis; Admiral Marolus was clear that the temple there poses too much of a risk.

Captain's Log: Day 8 [First Entry]

I should've never let S'Drassa watch over the crate alone. When I went to check on him, I found the hold empty and the crate open with no sign of the creature. He must have freed it, but why? And where in Oblivion did he take it?

Captain's Log: Day 8 [Final Entry]

I've locked myself in the hold to keep what's left of the crew from finding me. I don't know what happened. They've gone completely mad. Maybe I've gone mad as well.
