The Sound of Water

The Sound of Water

Horatio Gargonath

I have tasted the clear

I have whispered in its ear

I have called upon the water

And seen it break upon the rocks

Have you heard the water calling?

Have you felt the gentle lapping?

Swirling at your feet

Have you seen the river twisting?

And turning, so sweet

Crystal-clear water

Writhing and churning

Turned black and murky

Then crystal again

Have you heard the water calling?

Have you felt the gentle lapping?

Swirling at your feet

Have you seen the river twisting?

And turning, so sweet

I have felt the water rising

Up from the briny deep

I have heard the water rushing

And pushing at my feet

The water, so clear

Like a crystal, held dear

The water, so wonderful

Like a caress, so gentle?
