That is disappointing. It may be right -- she may be acting special just to avoid doing actual work. Or she may have played you for a fool. I think I'll have another pair of eyes take a look -- meanwhile you have my thanks for what you've done, %PCRace. Llaalsa Vathras
I see. That unfortunate pastime is all too common among Khajiit, but Ahnaissa may be better than most, as I have yet to suspect her of thievery! A long-clawed cat is a pest, but one that is good at acting discreetly and following orders can be an asset. I know just the place for her skills -- don't doubt it! I have a colleague in Bal Foyen who operates on the lean side of the law, shall we say, who should be able to make use of her skills. Thank you for your work, %PCName. Llaalsa Vathras
Well! It is a good thing she is now with us, to teach her the proper place such... teachings... have in our society, isn't it? I believe I know just the buyer in Suran... if not him, then Narsis... hmm. What is it? A reward? Very well. Take this for your legwork. Good job out there, outlander. Llaalsa Vathras
Is that so? Then I was mistaken in hoping you would help. I should hire someone more persuasive. Llaalsa Vathras
Have you spoken with Ahnaissa yet? Has she revealed anything about her past? Llaalsa Vathras Disposition ≥ 30
Thank you for your readiness, %PCRace! You will find Ahnaissa in her shack. Even as an outlander, it is crucial that you don't ask her too directly about her skills. Try first to get her to trust you more, to like you more. Gold loosens everyone's tongue -- a slave's in particular, seeing that they don't own much. Here is some that should suffice, and a scroll in case it isn't enough. Then ask her about her story; whatever makes her likely to reveal by accident what she wouldn't by intent. Good luck! Llaalsa Vathras
That's a shame. I understand; slavery is difficult for you outlanders to wrap your minds around, but it is an important part of our economy, as well as serving the needs of the Betmeri folk themselves, whom it allows to live among a prosperous and stable nation rather than in the war-torn and barbaric South. Hmm, yes, well, entertain yourself as you will, %PCClass. I have work to do. Llaalsa Vathras
It depends on the answers you find -- but likely yes. The Vathras Plantation has few opportunities to offer to those who don't work with their hands; and this seems to be the case with her, whatever it is that she is hiding. Do you think you can find it out? Llaalsa Vathras
It is, but this does not mean that a slave is free as soon as she claims to have been born in Elsweyr. Less so if she doesn't even admit to that herself! We were not the ones catching this cat. I appreciate your attention -- it might be very helpful in this request. Llaalsa Vathras
Slaves are sometimes mistrustful and afraid of their masters and of Dunmer in general. This is particularly common with slaves that have been subjected to the Dres or the Telvanni, but also with ones who still remember a life of freedom and savagery. In due time, the fear gives way to respect. As I said, you are an outlander, so you will not bear the brunt of that mistrust. What do you think? Llaalsa Vathras
Ahnaissa, however, has been elusive. She claims to be a mere household slave with no history, but her accent betrays an origin in Pelletinia -- the south of Elsweyr -- and even her way of walking suggests hidden strengths. I think there is more to her than meets the eye. For whatever reason, she has been keeping her skills to herself. You are an outlander too. Perhaps she will open up to you? How about it, %PCName? Will you interview Ahnaissa for me? Llaalsa Vathras
Over in Cyrodiil, they think of slavery as painful drudgery with occasional beatings. While this may be true for the Telvanni and Dres, we at Vathras Plantation strive to provide meaningful work for our slaves. A bitter slave is a useless worker, so it's good business to keep our slaves content. When a new slave arrives, I assess their skills and interests, often revealed through their background and previous occupation. Many are forthcoming, as they know it affects their work duties. Ahnaissa, you say? She lives in the large shack at the northwestern end of this plantation. Disposition ≥ 30 Vathras Plantation
