Don't get me wrong, I think the Beacon performs a vital service for the Empire. Is it necessary, however, to have a full knightly order, and all the money and jurisdiction that entails, taking care of it? When an ordinary unit from the Legion would do? I'm sure there are plenty of legionnaires finishing a tour in Black Marsh who know very well how to keep a fire lit! [He laughs.] Willam Rilard
The Beacon's history is truly fascinating. It was completed in 271 in preparation for Uriel V's conquest of Akavir. It served, and serves still, to guide Imperial Navy ships north from Wolverine Hall, out into the Sea of Ghosts, and, eventually, to the Padomaic. But, to me, the Beacon is more than history. It is a symbol of the virtues of our great Empire. Tenacity. Guidance. Vigilance. Virtues the Order of Firewatch, and I as its Commander, strive to uphold. Senillos Tulnus
A wonder, isn't it? The Beacon has stood for over a century, a symbol of the Empire's endurance, our aspirations, our mission for Tamriel. It has been the honor of my life to serve the Beacon as Commander of the Order of Firewatch. We are its custodians in fact and in spirit, and we strive every day to embody the virtues the Beacon represents. Tenacity. Guidance. Vigilance. We must not fail. And yet, we have. This matter of the Brazen Maiden reflects ill on us all. Senillos Tulnus Firewatch, Ember Keep: Great Hall
I never tire of the view from up here. Alone with the sea and the flame. [He sighs.] Senillos Tulnus Firewatch
I'm going to miss this place. I remember coming back from patrol when I was just a recruit and knowing, when I saw it, that I was almost home. Never thought it would be home. Guess it isn't, anymore. Helrus Jeral
That blasted pile of stones? Ahh, I shouldn't be so hard on it. It's guided me through this stretch enough times... I suppose that's what's got me peeved. Coming into the strait and seeing nothing where I expected light. Would've thought I'd steered us wrong if I didn't know these waters like I do. Knowing wasn't enough, though; the light's the only thing that'll get you through the rocks north of here if you're sailing the night. Bidsi Vidryon
It's that big pile of stones with a fire on top over there, can't miss it. Big name for a lighthouse, don't you think? Think they'd take better care of it with a big name like that. Bidsi Vidryon
Our assertion is that the Order of Firewatch is legally responsible for damage caused by its failure to keep Drakelight Beacon lit. It is Imperial Law that the Empire, and by extension its institutions, has a duty of care for all lawful travelers on byways and waterways where it is reasonably within Imperial purview to ensure such safety, and where the traveler does not deliberately or recklessly compromise their own safety, or the safety of another. The case could not be any clearer. Goren Daranith
