She's a nice woman. It's a quiet post up here, and the weather's a bit cold for my tastes, but it beats the ash storms.

I don't know much about her, but I'd bet she'll try to get a favor out of you before she agrees to get a guard. If you're persuasive enough, you might be able to get around that.

You have been expelled from the Guild, %PCName. You may consider your orders rescinded until such a time as you make amends.

That's over now, %PCName.

So, you caught the burglar? Well done. Hopefully Jana can rest easy at night from now on. Here's your payment.

Hmm? So you weren't able to catch the burglar, but think he may have been scared off? Well, I'm glad that Jana let you return to service as soon as possible; we do have other matters to attend to, but I am disappointed that you were unable to catch the burglar. You did well enough for yourself, I suppose. Here's your reward.

So, you didn't think any burglar had turned up, eh? Well, guess what. I just received a message from Jana. She says her store was burglarized last night. You disgust me -- you couldn't even stop a petty burglary? You've besmirched both my name, and that of the Guild through this foolish behavior. Let's hope you can do better in your future work.

What are you doing here, %PCName? Get back to Jana's shop at once.

Get moving, %PCName.

It's guard duty for you, %PCName. Jana Livia, the trader in Nivalis, has reported a number of break-ins at her shop over the past few weeks. I want you to put a stop to it. Report to Jana in Nivalis, and guard her shop from burglars. I'll mark Nivalis on your map. Hopefully you won't be waiting for days on end. Keep vigilant, %PCName.

That's me.

You caught the scoundrel? Excellent! Oh, you were forced to kill him? A shame, but it is a risk I'm sure the criminal knew he was taking. Tell Permil to give you your payment: I sent it to him in advance.

So, you didn't see any burglar? Hmm, you can head back to the Fighters Guild, I won't keep you out longer than necessary. I was hoping we could have caught him tonight, but alas, it is not so. I'll send word to your guild if anything's amiss.

Yes, but don't you have a job to be doing?

That's me. Ah, so you are the one from the Fighters Guild? Hmm, come speak to me in the morning. I'll fill you in then.

One piece of advice: the burglar probably won't dare come in if he sees you here, but that's no good; I wouldn't want to keep you here forever. I think you could probably hide in the stairway that leads down to the basement, just behind the counter here. Don't bother with the upper floor: there are plenty of windows he could see through there. I'll be off to the Black Ogre tavern now. Take good care of the store, and if any customers come in, tell them that I'm cleaning or something. Good luck.

That's me. Ah, so you are the one from the Fighters Guild? Very well. Over the past weeks, I have been the victim of a series of burglaries. It is just not good for business and I want you to put a stop to it. I'm fairly sure that all these burglaries have been committed by one person, as I am sure there can't be a whole group of people who clearly know the layout of my store very well. If you stay here overnight, hopefully you can catch the perpetrator and put an end to this.
