Ah yes. I do hope to find that ring someday. It might help me secure a position more in keeping with my station. One that's rather less demanding of my time. Azariah Thelas
I'm already feeling more fortunate, %PCName. That gold I gave you as a reward? I've already made that much back... and faster than usual... Azariah Thelas
So, you've come back with the ring. I take it Alvar met an unfortunate end? Pity. Hestruck me as moderately capable. But that's the risk when you rely on enthusiasm over competence. In the end, I suppose he served his purpose. As did you. For retrieving the Ring of Rising Fortunes, here, five hundred gold from a discretionary account I maintain for those who prove themselves useful. Azariah Thelas
As have I. At first glance, the ring doesn't seem that valuable, but to whoever wears it, great fortunes follow. I heard that the ring was last worn by a herder's daughter. She became very successful soon afterwards, even married a rich noble. That was all over three centuries ago, though. It's believed that the ring is held along with her other treasures in her family's tomb. I don't know for sure, but I think that the Rangirths, mostly poor herders, may just be that woman's family. Azariah Thelas
Ah, so you've heard. Yes, I'm looking for the Ring of Rising Fortunes. A fitting name, don't you think? Managing the accounts of an ebony mine may sound grand, but it's backbreaking work. Perhaps with a bit more luck, I could rise to a position with greater responsibility and less strenuous tasks. Azariah Thelas
I sent Alvar Omothan, a promising Telvanni Lawman, to retrieve the ring for me from the Rangirth Ancestral Tomb. Though as I understand it, he couldn't follow my directions, so he had to hire a Rangirth herder to guide him; a sniveling little coward who couldn't even leave offerings at his own family's tomb. Hah! Once Alvar comes back with that ring, I might just be able to get a bit more of the respect I'm entitled to. That's enough storytelling for now. I have important work to attend to. Azariah Thelas
Thank you for helping me in these matters. The Ring of Rising Fortunes will be safe with me. Uneleas Rangirth
Thank you for helping me in these matters. The Ring of Rising Fortunes is no longer a concern for me. Uneleas Rangirth
Once again, you have helped me through a crisis. That you would give such a valuable ring to an impoverished herder like me, tells me that you are a truly good person. While I cannot give you any gold for this, I can give you a few pointers on the one skill I know that you might find useful... [He shows you a few tips on marksmanship, which he learned while protecting his herd from predators in the dark.] I'll remember you, %PCName, and I'll make sure to tell everyone I know how helpful you were. Farewell. Uneleas Rangirth
You think so, too? Then the Telvanni's search will clearly be in vain! Thank you, %PCName; I see that there is nothing to worry about now. Uneleas Rangirth
What? Hu... how dare you! Ugh! Betrayed again! I've had enough of this. You've robbed my tomb of its treasures, and disgraced me, and after I thought you were so helpful. No, I won't walk away from this one %PCName... I will fight, and you will die! Uneleas Rangirth
You have to help me, %PCName! I know I have asked so much of you already, but could you do one final task for me? I want you to search my tomb for the Ring of Rising Fortunes. I really doubt you'll find anything, but if you actually DO manage to find the Ring of Rising Fortunes, then can you give it to me? It's the only way to protect the tomb from desecration by the Telvanni! Uneleas Rangirth
It seems, though, that Azariah Thelas is certain that the Ring of Rising Fortunes, Dilave's ring, lies somewhere in the Rangirth Ancestral Tomb. As I said, I don't believe there is any secret chamber in there, nor do I believe that the Ring of Rising Fortunes is still in there, if it ever even was. Still, as long as the Telvanni know about the story and my family's connection, they won't leave my family tomb alone. I fear that if this isn't resolved soon, the Telvanni will tear my family's tomb apart! Uneleas Rangirth
Much of the rest of the story tells of what Dilave did, but the part that's important right now is the end. Upon her death, Dilave was taken to my family tomb, the Rangirth Ancestral Tomb, along with many of her other riches. As far as I know, though, those riches were taken long ago. I really doubt there's any secret chamber in the tomb, and even if there was, how would anyone know whether or not the ring is among the riches? Uneleas Rangirth
The story goes that Dilave, one of my great aunts, was poor like most of my family, until one day, she found this ring inside of a mucksponge. The ring was by no means cheap, and Dilave started wearing the ring soon afterwards. Something about that ring, though... it seemed as though whenever she wore the ring, fortune would follow. Just a few months later and Dilave was now a rich adventurer, and married to an Indoril noble. Uneleas Rangirth
Yes, I do know about the ring. My mother once told me the story about that ring... It's a long story, and I really can't tell you the whole thing, because... I can't remember it all. However, I can summarize it for you, if you want. Will you listen? Uneleas Rangirth
