Vibius Verturius was responsible for a huge loss of life and equipment when the Legion assaulted the Saros Archipelago. He was able to get an honorable discharge despite his wrongdoings. My sense of honor tells me that I simply cannot let that slip. Sirius Cinna
I'm disappointed by your distrust, %PCName. Now I won't be able to share Farasad's story with the wider world. Sirius Cinna
This diary indeed recounts what happened during the assault. I'm happy that this new information came to light and I'll drop the inquest against Vibius Verturius. Look, I'm working on my autobiography and the assault on Saros features quite prominently. Farasad's diary is valuable source material to make sure that everything is correct. You'd do my late comrade honor by allowing his story to be told through my book. Could you hand over the diary to me? Sirius Cinna

You murdered Sirius? Did you think that would help me in any way?! Now the inquest isn't just going to be about the Firemoth operation, the Legion will also start asking questions about why the officer initiating it suddenly met a violent end. You've made this whole situation much worse, both for me and for the governor. Vibius Verturius
Thank you for depositing the diary with the Imperial Commission. If Sirius Cinna knew that we had it, I think he would've dropped the inquest himself. He must know that it doesn't stand a chance now. Hopefully this won't drag on for too much longer. Vibius Verturius

You've done what? You've given the sole evidence that proves my innocence to the person that wants to ruin my reputation? You do realize that right now that diary is most likely in pieces smoldering in Cinna's fireplace? Thanks for nothing, %PCName! Vibius Verturius
Thank you for bringing this diary back to me, %PCName. I'm sure that Sirius Cinna will drop the inquest now. This diary not only proves my innocence, but is damning for his own conduct back in the day. Thanks again, %PCName. You're a true friend. Vibius Verturius
Sirius Cinna must realize that this whole inquest was already on shaky footing. This diary should be enough to topple it. Vibius Verturius

You've found Farasad's diary? Brilliant work, %PCName. You should let Sirius Cinna know that we have this diary in our possession. I would travel to Narsis myself, but I cannot leave my post. He'll probably drop the inquest if he knows that I have solid evidence proving my innocence. Cinna lives in Narsis, though I'm not sure where. Vibius Verturius
You've found Farasad's diary? Brilliant work, %PCName. You should take it to Janonia Melitus in Bal Foyen and present it as evidence for the inquest. I would go myself, but I cannot leave my post. Vibius Verturius
Please be careful, %PCName. The lich may be destroyed, but you should not be too complacent. Defending me at the inquest isn't worth your life. Vibius Verturius
The wreck of the TEM Chrysanthippus should be somewhere on the northeastern end of the archipelago. Your task will be much safer now that the evil has been cleansed from Fort Firemoth. Even so, you should be careful. Vibius Verturius
Are you insane? Whatever dwells beneath Fort Firemoth took out a whole Imperial Legion expeditionary force. I commend your courage, but the Saros Archipelago would be your final destination. If you're serious about investigating the TEM Chrysanthippus, you should look for a galleon on the northeastern end of the archipelago. Don't land on the archipelago itself. I believe the shipwreck itself will already be dangerous enough. Vibius Verturius
You already found his diary? I don't know how you got your hands on this, but thank you for safeguarding it. You should let Sirius Cinna know that we have this diary in our possession. That scoundrel! The disaster was due to his incompetence! He must be trying to shift the blame onto me in order to rehabilitate his own reputation. Vibius Verturius
I'm not, although there is something that does bother me to this day. I often think of a young Redguard recruit who was part of the force to retake Firemoth. Farasad was his name, a brilliant scribe and also a meticulous diarist. He must've written down everything that happened. His diary could exonerate me, although I doubt that thing still exists. Farasad was on board the TEM Chrysanthippus when it shipwrecked, and he perished with it. Vibius Verturius
I'm being summoned for the inquest into my role in the attempt to retake Fort Firemoth. I was one of the leading officers of the expeditionary force dispatched to retake the archipelago, which as you know ended in failure. I was cleared of any wrongdoing at the time, so I don't know why the whole thing has been reopened. The inquest is pending and it'll most likely take several years before any hearings will start. Vibius Verturius
This inquest was initiated by his former commanding officer, Sirius Cinna. He claims to have evidence that the Verturius was responsible for the failure of the assault on Fort Firemoth and wants to see Verturius's honorable discharge turned into a dishonorable one. Janonia Melitus

That is privileged information at this stage. We are still compiling the evidence for and against Verturius, and do not wish to prejudice that process. He will be given full access to all the evidence at a later date and will have plenty of opportunity to defend himself. Janonia Melitus
Thank you, %PCname. We'll keep this diary in our evidence room until the day comes when the inquest goes to trial. Janonia Melitus
Okay, Vibius himself can always hand it in later if he desires to use it in his inquest. Janonia Melitus
What is this, %PCName? A diary that should prove Vibius Verturius innocent? I'll happily take this evidence and keep it in our vault until the inquest goes to trial. Will you hand over the diary? Janonia Melitus
Vibius Verturius is being summoned for an inquest into his honorable discharge from the Imperial Legion. This inquest was initiated by his former commanding officer, Sirius Cinna. He was part of the failed attempt to retake the Saros Archipelago including Fort Firemoth some years ago. Cinna has blamed the failure of the attempt on Verturius, and wants to see Verturius's honorable discharge turned into a dishonorable one. Janonia Melitus

You've killed Vibius' former commanding officer? What Daedra possessed you to do something so reckless, %PCRank?! No matter what evidence Vibius will present in his favor now, the fact that the officer initiating the inquest got murdered will put him under even closer scrutiny. We're done here, outlander. You've caused enough damage in Othmura. Artisa Rethan
You've done well in finding the evidence exonerating Vibius Verturius, but you didn't succeed in getting rid of that inquest as I asked you to. It seems like Vibius will still be preoccupied with this for the forseeable future, so I can't say I'm fully satisfied with your work here. Artisa Rethan
You have done what? %PCName, are you really such a fool? How could you get tricked so easily? You had the only evidence Vibius had to completely prove his innocence, and you gave it to the person that would benefit the most from having it disappear! Artisa Rethan
Thank you for going to such great lengths to get that inquest off the table, %PCName. You've proven yourself to be a valuable member of House Hlaalu and indeed a very valuable friend of Othmura. Artisa Rethan
You have found the diary? I would suggest you let Vibius' former commanding officer know that he now possesses evidence that exonerates him. Artisa Rethan
You have found the diary? It's good that we have conclusive evidence that exonerates Vibius. However, we still don't know who is causing this trouble for him. If you give the diary to Janonia Melitus, then that will condemn us to years of grinding Imperial bureaucracy. Find out who has instigated this inquest and convince them to withdraw it. Artisa Rethan
You're going to the Saros Archipelago to retrieve evidence that would exonerate Vibius? Take care, %PCName. We need you back here in one piece. Artisa Rethan
Ah, so it's Vibius's old commanding officer who has instigated this inquest? If Vibius' honorable discharge gets overturned, his position as commander of the guard will be untenable. %PCName, you must stop this inquest! You should talk to Vibius right away -- if you haven't already. He can most likely tell you more about what happened at the Saros Archipelago. Artisa Rethan
Have you been to Bal Foyen yet? Imperial bureaucracy moves slowly but inexorably. I want this inquest off the table before it manages to do any harm. Artisa Rethan
Go to Bal Foyen and find out who has instigated this inquest. You will need to speak to Janonia Melitus, the Imperial Magistrate, so be prepared to plead your case with her. Artisa Rethan
I have received word that Vibius has recently been summoned to an inquest at the Imperial Commission in Bal Foyen. It's to do with his involvement with Fort Firemoth when he was serving in the Imperial Legion, but there's something else going on that they haven't told us about. I want this inquest off the table, %PCName. Vibius is an excellent commander of the guard and I don't want him distracted or his reputation befouled. You already know how some of the townspeople feel about him. Artisa Rethan
When he moved here to become captain of the garrison, I presented him with a beautiful belt as a welcoming gift, and he refused it and acted like I had offered him a bribe! You'd think governor Artisa Rethan would only bring in an Imperial if he understood our customs and how we do business. Irvar Dundras Disposition ≥ 30
He hasn't done anything bad so far, but I still can't believe that the governor put a former member of the Imperial Legion in control of the Othmura garrison. Are you trying to tell me that he was the most qualified man for the job? No, I recognize a rotten deal when I see one. Either he bought this post, or Artisa Rethan is so desperate to show that she is a loyal servant of the Empire that she would put one of their people in charge of our safety. And neither is putting me at ease. Saelin Ulom
I don't understand why the governor would make an Imperial captain of her garrison. And an ex-legionnaire at that! Surely there must have been a Dunmer just as qualified. Vurvan Helval
Gruff. Dour. But not too corrupt. Less so than most guard captains I've met in Morrowind, be they Great House OR Imperial Legion. Verturius used to be a legionnaire himself before he took this job. I'm still not sure what made him stay in Morrowind when his enlistment was up. Maybe he thought that throwing his lot in with House Hlaalu was a better prospect than returning to Cyrodiil. Muck-Raker Disposition ≥ 50
I haven't met him. He is probably in the keep, the tall building right in the middle of town. Pilgrim Othmura
He is my superior officer. You can find him in his office on the bottom level of the keep, where the prison cells are. Guard Othmura
He is a former member of the Imperial Legion and now serves as the captain of the Othmura garrison. Great House Hlaalu Disposition ≥ 30 Othmura
I know he was a member of the Imperial Legion in Bal Foyen, but I don't know why he stopped being one and became the head of the Othmura garrison instead. Personally, I've never had a run-in with him, but I'd wish that the captain of our guards was someone who at least follows our faith. Temple Disposition ≥ 30 Othmura
He was with the Imperial Legion in Bal Foyen, but when his enlistment was up he took Artisa Rethan's offer to come south and lead her town garrison. I can't speak for his time as a legionnaire, but during his tenure here he has proven to be fair and reliable. Some of the more traditionally-minded folk in Othmura still bristle at an Imperial at the head of the local guards though. Disposition ≥ 30 Othmura
