Thank you for your services, %PCName! I feel as if I learned a great deal, and not just about this region, but about my ancestral homeland as a whole. Beldros Rethelius
This ruin was the last location in the area that I wanted to visit. My wife handles our financial matters, so please talk to her for your reimbursement. Beldros Rethelius
Why, I've never heard a cruder statement from any %PCRace. I may be a citizen of the Empire, and I do believe that our good governance has brought order to this province, but I am also one of those Dunmer you seem to think so little of. Let us speak no more of this. Beldros Rethelius
Perhaps. But just three generations ago, my ancestors likely served one of those 'backwards fools', and for all I know they did so with honor and diligence. Let us speak no more of this. Beldros Rethelius
I don't doubt they'd view a Cyrodiil outlander like me as even more godless than any Hlaalu. You haven't reassured me, %PCName. I just have to hope that not everyone thinks as you do. Beldros Rethelius
Yes, I'm sure you're right. And I must remember that while much about this place is strange to me, it's still a part of the Empire. Should things come to a head, I'm sure our legions will intervene. Beldros Rethelius
In any case, one of the cruder fellows on the Hlan Oek waterfront told me that there was trouble brewing on the Thirr River. A House War between Hlaalu and Indoril, he said. While I understand that this is not the same as the great wars of the past, I am a little worried for our safety. I'd hate to cut our trip short, if there's really nothing to worry about. Do you have any insight into the conflict? Beldros Rethelius
I've heard that dreugh spend part of their life on land, but they are, fundamentally, creatures of the sea. And this architecture doesn't look very... aquatic, to me. Beldros Rethelius
You're right. Morrowind is a living, changing place, not just a centuries-old memory handed down through my family like an heirloom. I will endeavour to see it as it is, not as my grandfather said it was. I have enjoyed the hospitality of House Hlaalu so far, and I look forward to crossing to the eastern bank of the river and seeing the lands of House Indoril as well. Beldros Rethelius
My ancestors would have been Indoril retainers, then. But that's in the past. The Armistice brought Morrowind into the Empire, securing peace and prosperity here, and for all of Tamriel. Beldros Rethelius
These ruins are indeed impressive, even if there's not much left of them. I'm sure my great-grandparents didn't live anywhere so imposing as this, but to think they might have passed by this place on their travels, or even docked their ship right here to trade! According to the stories I've heard, the river was controlled by House Indoril back then. But Hlan Oek, and Idathren to the south, both fly the banner of House Hlaalu. What happened? Beldros Rethelius
Anyway, %PCName, there's one more place I want to visit. When we were out on the Thirr River, I spotted some ruins on a peninsula close to Hlan Oek. The architecture doesn't look anything like the towns and cities we've passed through on our journey. The fisherman told me that the ruins aren't far north of a little fishing village called Idathren. Here, I think I know where that is. Please meet us there. At the ruins, that is, not at the village. Beldros Rethelius
That... that can't be correct, %PCname. I might have never been to Morrowind, but I still know that the Dwemer lived here long before my ancestors did. And that figure at the front doesn't look anything like the depictions of Almalexia that I've seen. Beldros Rethelius
I see. It's a celebration of a journey seen to its end, no matter who we are or what purpose is leading us. Yes, I like to see our pilgrimage as being in the spirit of this mural. Beldros Rethelius
Ah, of course, I should have been able to puzzle that out myself. No wonder it's everywhere along Veloth's Path. Beldros Rethelius
Now, the mural. I believe there was a similar one at the temple in Hlan Oek. It seems to signify something in the Tribunal faith. What does it mean? Beldros Rethelius
Are you sure? The Yeth-Grubs have been quite the nuisance on our trip, and they don't seem at all deterred by the noise. In fact, poor Lysenia was bitten by one, right by one of these contraptions. They don't carry disease, do they? She's not looking well -- but perhaps that's just this incessant droning. Beldros Rethelius
So we all travel toward our goal together. It's rather eerie to think of us taking this pilgrimage with a host of spirits. But also comforting, in a way. I will try to appreciate these instruments for their noble purpose, even if the noise takes some getting used to. Beldros Rethelius
I see. So they are a kindness to the dead. Perhaps not so much to the living, as my poor wife will attest. She's not looking well, is she? Beldros Rethelius
I think that pilgrim rather exaggerated the proximity of this place to Hlan Oek. And its facility as a place of "quiet" contemplation. But now that we've all made it, I'd like to ask you a question about this apparatus here, first. The one making that... noise. I've encountered a few of them on our pilgrimage so far. Gourd harps, I believe they're called. What purpose do they serve? Why do they constantly ring like that? Beldros Rethelius
In any case, I think we're done here. And I'm sure my wife would like to get back out into the fresh air. In fact, we could use a stroll. One of the pilgrims I met mentioned a large mural to the north of here, along Veloth's Path. He said it was the perfect place for some quiet contemplation. I would like to visit it. Please meet us there -- it shouldn't be far from Hlan Oek. Beldros Rethelius Hlan Oek, Temple
I -- no, I find that very hard to believe, %PCName. I've handled bonemold armor, even bought a set to ship back to my estate, and no armorsmith has mentioned anything like that. Are you sure you know what you're talking about? Beldros Rethelius Hlan Oek, Temple
Yes, I can see the comfort in that, even if this style of veneration is a touch macabre. Hlan Oek is close to where my ancestors lived, I believe. I wonder if they're still watching over me, all these centuries later. I wonder if they recognize me. Beldros Rethelius Hlan Oek, Temple
I see. I must say, displaying the remains of the dead like this is a touch macabre. I won't deny that it makes me feel a little uneasy. But I will withhold judgement. I'm sure when I see the great city of Necrom, all will become clear. Beldros Rethelius Hlan Oek, Temple
I've seen pits like this in several locations now, including out in the open air, along Veloth's Path. This way of interring the dead is quite peculiar, at least to my Cyrodiilic sensibilities. Forgive me, I don't mean to be insensitive. I'll let you speak. Why do the people of Morrowind treat their dead this way? Beldros Rethelius Hlan Oek, Temple
The first place I want to visit is the temple here in Hlan Oek. We passed by other temples on the way here, but we haven't had the time to take a proper look at one. I'm a devotee of the Nine myself, but I wish to learn more about the faith of my ancestors. We'll go in and have a look around. Please, meet us inside once you're ready. Beldros Rethelius
You're a member of the Temple and would be willing to serve as our guide? Splendid! Beldros Rethelius
You say you'd be our guide? I had hoped for a local, but you seem trustworthy, %PCName. Very well! Beldros Rethelius Disposition ≥ 65
I had hoped for a local, but you seem to know your way around Morrowind. Yes, I'm sure you will do the job competently. Beldros Rethelius
Forgive me, %PCName, but I don't think you're suitable for this task. Aren't you as foreign to Morrowind as we are? Beldros Rethelius
We're not in a hurry. Lysenia is certainly relishing the opportunity to rest her feet. I'm sure we'll find someone suitable to give us a guided tour. Beldros Rethelius
My ancestors left for Cyrodiil three generations ago. I never met my great-grandparents, but their tales of Morrowind were like treasures to my family. My wife and I decided to walk Veloth's Path in their memory, and to learn more about my ancestral homeland. I was eager to see the Thirr River, which was at the heart of their stories, but now we're here there is so much more to see. We need someone familiar with the local customs to show us around. I thought, perhaps, someone at the Temple could help. Beldros Rethelius
