Plan B

Master Vaerin asked me to bring him the Staff of Expeditious Exit, an artifact that he apparently needs for his plan to succeed. I'll find the staff deep in the Daedric ruin of Alumawia, southeast of Mount Telnaro.

I found the Staff of Expeditious Exit. Master Vaerin told me to hold on to it as an escape route in case I failed to execute his plan.

Master Vaerin is dead.
