Stage Fright

Balis Indoran, the acting director at the Hlaalu Theater in Narsis, told me that the lead actor in their production of The Wealth of Wayrest, Mederyl Llendules, seems to have developed a fear of performing. Mederyl fled the stage without warning during a recent rehearsal and locked himself in his room at the Purple Lantern, so Balis is growing increasingly concerned about him. I offered to check on him and was given the spare key to his room to do so.

Mederyl Llendules panicked after I asked him about his fear of performing. He told me that he saw a ghostly figure try to attack him during the last rehearsal, which disappeared before anyone else could see it, and he refuses to go back to the theater until they can prove that the ghost is gone.

I told Balis Indoran about Mederyl Llendules' refusal and the ghostly figure he claimed to see. He was frustrated by the news, but proposed that I stand in for Mederyl during a rehearsal to prove that there were no ghosts. Balis gave me a copy of Act III of The Wealth of Wayrest and told me to memorize King Eadwyre's lines for Scene IV. He also said I should bring in Tatius Quettius from backstage to play the cloaked figure when I'm ready to start the rehearsal.

Tatius Quettius said he would meet me on stage for the rehearsal.

While rehearsing with the cast of The Wealth of Wayrest, a ghostly figure that only I could see appeared on stage. It screamed Mederyl Llendules' name and accused him of murder before attacking me.

Balis Indoran was shocked that the ghostly figure Mederyl Llendules had seen on stage was real, and even more shocked that I banished it. He gave me a small reward for my help and told me not to come back to the theater.

Balis Indoran told me that Mederyl Llendules screamed and dropped dead on the spot after he went back to rehearsing. With his death, The Wealth of Wayrest will not have its premiere for a while longer.

After I killed one of the production members at the Hlaalu Theater, Balis Indoran told me that I was no longer welcome there.

Balis Indoran was furious to hear of Mederyl Llendules' death.

I told Mederyl Llendules that a ghostly figure attacked me on stage during a rehearsal and accused him of murder. He broke down and explained that it must have been the ghost of Darathes Soril, a rising star in the same company as him twenty years ago who he killed in a fit of jealousy. He begged me to help him make things right by bringing Darathes' remains to the Eight-Bones Temple for a proper burial, which, alongside a generous donation to the Temple, he hopes will appease the ghost.

I delivered Darathes' remains to Drurile Vayas, a priest at the Eight-Bones Temple, and told her Mederyl Llendules' story. She thanked me and gave me an enchanted belt for helping Mederyl begin to redeem himself.

At the Eight-Bones Temple, I was told that the priest in charge of new burials had died, but gave them Darathes' remains anyway so they could be buried.

Mederyl Llendules gave me an enchanted dagger for dealing with the ghost of Darathes Soril and agreed to return to the Hlaalu Theater.

He then told me that he was the ghost of Darathes Soril, a rising star in the same company as Mederyl twenty years ago who Mederyl murdered in a fit of jealousy, and asked me to help him get revenge.

I refused to help the ghost of Darathes Soril get revenge on Mederyl Llendules, and instead suggested that the two of them find a way to reconcile. Darathes agreed to this on the condition that I convince Mederyl to return to the Hlaalu Theater and confess his murder in front of all the other actors, after which Darathes would appear on stage to publicly forgive him. To do so, he also needs his remains placed on stage. He did not know their location, but thought that Mederyl would.

I confronted Mederyl with Darathes Soril's accusations of murder. He confessed that they were true and agreed to return to the Hlaalu Theater to do so publicly. He also gave me directions to Darathes' remains.

After Darathes Soril forgave Mederyl Llendules for his jealousy and murder on stage, he thanked me for my help in getting them to reconcile and granted me a blessing before disappearing.

I agreed to help the ghost of Darathes Soril get revenge on Mederyl Llendules by convincing him to come back to the Hlaalu Theater. Darathes was pleased and promised to reward me after he had killed Mederyl. He implied it might take a few days.

The ghost of Darathes Soril thanked me for my help getting revenge on Mederyl Llendules and granted me a blessing.
