The rat is a hardy, abundant hunter-scavenger, found on the land surface and in natural and excavated underground environments. Rat meat is tough and greasy, with an unpleasant odor and taste. Nonetheless, it is cheap, abundant, and nutritious, and palatable when cooked in a stew and masked by strong spices.

You killed Veles! Why must you bring this up, %PCRace?

Thank you for helping me out with that trouble with Madar Senatam, and of course, thank you for curing Veles.

Excellent! It serves Madar right for trying to get Veles killed! Here is the gold I promised to pay you.

Then we shouldn't be standing around talking about this matter.

Have you contaminated Madar Senatam's food stores with the infected rat meat?

Have you contaminated Madar Senatam's food stores with the infected rat meat?

Excellent work, %PCName! Now I've been thinking that Madar should be punished for infecting Veles. I've procured some meat from a rat that had Witbane and would like you to place it amongst Madar's food supplies. Even if she throws out the meat it will still contaminate the other items in whatever basket or urn you place the diseased rat meat in. Report back, after you've contaminated Madar's food, and I'll pay you 50 more Septims for your time. Be sure to clean your hands after handling the meat.

Hmmph... I'm sure she is the one responsible. Here, I'll pay you even though you didn't find what you were sent to discover.

And what have you found?

Well, let me know what you find when you're done. Make sure you check all of her urns and baskets that may have food supplies in them.

Have you completed your investigation of Madar Senatam's housepod?

Have you completed your investigation of Madar Senatam's housepod?

Excellent! Thank you again for curing Veles.

Oh well, thanks again for helping Veles.

Thank you for curing Veles! Here, take this gold as compensation for your trouble. I know that Madar Senatam was behind infecting Veles; still I'd like to be able to prove it. Will you search her housepod for evidence, %PCName? I'll pay you 20 Septims to do it.

Veles is diseased? Please, %PCName, don't kill him. He can be cured, and you know it. If you help me cure him I'll pay you.

Veles is not diseased! Madar has always had something against him, and I can't understand why. Go see for yourself. You'll see!

Veles is my rat and has been for several years now. He's really quite clever for a rat.

You handled that very well.

Thank you for killing the rat, %PCName, and for curing me of the disease I contracted from it. Here are 150 pieces of gold for your trouble.

Thank you, %PCName. Here are 50 pieces of gold for your trouble.

Please hurry, %PCName.

It's still a danger! Rats are awful creatures! Please, I beg you to kill it before it infects us all! You've cured the disease this time, but who will do it in six weeks when the foul creature is infected again? My offer to pay for killing the rat still stands, please kill it!

Preposterous! I've done no such thing.

I will allow you to search my house. I would normally object, but I hold out hope that after you find no such evidence you'll finally see that the rat is the real culprit here and kill it!

Well, is it dead?

Well, is it dead?

Well, is it dead?

Well, is it dead?

Horrible creatures, I can't stand rats. It's almost unbearable living next door to that dreadful beast Dunel Varys owns.
